Gingival graft
A gingival graft, also called a gum graft, is used to treat receding gums or to cover exposed dental roots. When the root is visible, there is increased risk of decay and sensitivity.
Here are some factors that predispose some people to receding gums:
- Very thin gums
- Poor tooth alignment
- Poor brushing technique
- Tooth grinding (bruxism)
- Tooth clenching teeth
- Poor dental restorations
